ABOUT ME

I'm a qualified counsellor & Psychotherapist. I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists.

My study began at Kingston college 15 years ago where I obtained an Intermediate & Advanced certificate in Integrative counselling which covered Humanistic, Psychodynamic & CBT therapy.  This followed onto studying an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling & Psychotherapy at Birkbeck College, University of London.  My development as a student practitioner was referenced by my tutor in his latest book 'The Psychoanalytic Craft' by L.Spurling (p.194, 2015)

My training included a two and a half year placement at the charity MIND where I worked with a variety of clients who presented problems with confidence, depression, anxiety, dealing with marital affairs and eating disorders.   I then moved onto more intense cases dealing with sexual abuse and clients presenting borderline personality disorder's.

In my last placement I worked with the NHS for 13 months which focused on working with BPD (borderline personality disorders).  I worked with one to one patients and I also took part & managed weekly group therapy sessions  which used the technique of mentalisation behavioural therapy.  MBT was developed and manualised by Peter Fonagy and Anthony Bateman, designed for individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD).  I took part in training sessions carried out by Anthony Bateman and also regular supervisions.

Alongside my therapy work I also work in a mental health social care setting for which I participate in discussions about different client cases.  I work with social workers who provide social care support to clients with Mental health issues.
